Depression
Depression is a very common mental illness found
in almost 5 persons out of 10, it is a state in which you feel discomfort in
doing normal things you use to do, and you get irritated by people around you.
Normally people think that it does not matter
but it can ruin your whole life if you don’t treat
it on time, a normal human being does not get irritated, angry or sad by small
things.
There are some signs of depression:
- You sleep a lot or do not sleep for days
- You start eating a lot or do not feel hungry at all
- You do notan have interest in the things you loved a lot
- Having the thoughts that you are not enough, or you are not worthy of doing anything
- You want to be alone all time
- You get tired of everything suddenly
- Having suicidal thoughts or harming yourself
We as human beings need many things to survive in this world, like eating healthy food or going outside, taking good sleep, and many more, but when we start doing these things too much or avoiding these basic things that are the time when we start harming ourselves.
Many people do not share their problems because
they are afraid of being called mad or mentally ill person,
but the thing is when you don’t share your problems and start keeping them
inside you catch negative energy and that is the downfall.
As a citizen of this society, it is our responsibility to take care of those who are around us and help those who need us. We must normalize that being depressed or sad is just a normal phase of life and it's not a taboo. Like when someone is going through any infection or illness, we don't call them mad we help them and take care of them same as we should normalize that having depression or emotional break down is not an illness.
What should we do?
When you see someone who is suffering from any of these symptoms you should talk
to them and help them understand that these problems are temporary and that
they are not mentally sick, and tell them that they should consult to
psychologist and tell them what hurting them so much that they are not willing
to try and make themselves easy and light from all the burden that they are
carrying on their shoulders.
There is no shame in taking to a psychologist or
going to a consultant because they are also doctors.
Although the types of treatments are:
