How to stop overthinking

 HOW TO AVOID OVERTHINKING! 

Thinking is good and productive but when thinking becomes intense and starts damaging you this is problem, and we call it “Overthinking”.

Overthinking is a disease which will eat you from inside because it makes you paralyzed and stuck in a moment that is passed or not here yet, and many among us are living in the world of overthinking. 


Have you ever noticed when you are on bed and trying your best to sleep but suddenly all the flash backs of old good or bad times pop ups in your mind and you start thinking that I should have done this or that, instead of this... and suddenly you start crying and hurting yourself and you spend almost half night in grieving what happened in your past which has nothing to do with your present days.

Overthinking can destroy your whole life because when you overthink you are just physically present but not mentally, this is a disorder which needs to be treated and fixed because the more you think the more you stuck deeper in quicksand.

Distract yourself: 

Do you know sometimes the best solution of avoiding the problems is distracting yourself and becoming busy, it is the best way to stop overthinking and creating mess.

So, let’s discuss the ways to distract yourself:

Avoid Staying Alone:

When we stay alone, we start thinking too much and suddenly start feeling that I am alone, no one cares about me, I am not important or special for anyone, this is the point where we are hurting ourselves.  

You can avoid it only by staying with your family or the people who love you and value you, this will help you and make you feel that I am important, and I deserve the best. 

Stop overthinking

Watch seasons: 

Sometimes escape is the best option, and you will do the same just search for a drama or season of your fav genre and start watching instead of sitting alone and dig into it and focus on it, avoid any thought of past or future, this will help you in seeing things broadly and you will get least time to think about worst things that happened.  

Exercise/play: 

When you are free after working or school, instead of staying in your bed or couch and thinking too much just pick any sports or games and start playing, by the time you will get used to it, do you know the amazing fact about sports, they help in reducing stress and when you play you fortunately forget everything and everyone around and this is the best way to distract yourself.

Stop overthinking

Sleep Early: 

The extreme time when the massive flow of thoughts hits us is at night when we are on bed and unable to sleep, right? Have you ever thought of the reason why you are unable to sleep on time? It's because you were free all day and other parts of your body were relaxed but your mind was working, and it was getting tired. When you will work and keep yourself busy in stuffs like exercising or playing or spending time in doing some productive things you will get tired and the moment you will lay on your bed you will sleep in seconds. 

Just give it a try and see the betterment in your sleeping schedule. 

Live in the moment: 

Here comes another big reason of being disturbed and not being able to make any decision, when you are physically present at some place, but you are mentally somewhere else how are you supposed to think and make correct decision? Just stay focused and start living every moment you are spending, like if you are sitting in classroom just stay focused and pay full attention to what is happening around you or when you are sitting in the friend or family gathering just try to stay there physically and mentally, this is improve and change your way of thinking and eventually you will stop overthinking .

Here’s a thing you need to understand that what is passed is your past, if someone left you, if someone hurt you or cheated on you this is not your fault that they did this, you are the best and you deserve the best.  


Just make yourself your first priority and stop what others think or say, does anybody cared about you when you were suffering? Has anyone paid attention on you when you were going through bad times alone? No... so, why are you sitting behind and suffering? Stop it and move on. 


Just like others you have right to be happy and satisfied, work on yourself and stand up proudly, forget what happened in past and stop thinking about what will happen in future, start living in this moment that you are spending.
